Shoot Creative Fireworks Photos--New Tutorial.

If you're heading out to see some fireworks this 4th of July, don't forget to take the camera along. Here are some creative techniques for getting great fireworks photos.
New Book on "Exposure" Already an Amazon Bestseller

My new book, Exposure Photo Workshop, is a part of the very successful Photo Workshop Series that is being published by Wiley Publishing. If exposure has been your nemesis (join the club!) or if you're seeking to advance your exposures to the next level, this book provides in-depth explanations for both beginner and experienced shooter. There's an in-depth look at both the theory of exposure and the practical applications that you can use to create more dramatic and emotional photographs. Over 300 of my photos illustrate the book. Each chapter in the book ends with an assignment and you can post your assignment photos to the Photo Workshop website for critique.

I am also the author of The Joy of Digital Photography one of the bestselling digital books ever. If you're new to digital photography (or photography in general) and want a good overview with lots and lots (400+) of photo examples, Joy is a great place to start. The book covers everything including how and why digital changed the face of photography, what types of cameras are avialable (and how Elvis Presley helped created the digital revolution!), camera techniques, exposure, natural lighting, photographing popular subjects like nature, landscapes and people. There is also an extenisve chapter on using photo-editing programs to enhance your images, technically and creatively.

...about jeffwignall.com
Welcome! My name is Jeff Wignall and I am a writer and photographer and the author of a number of how-to books on photography, including my most recent bestselling books, The Joy of Digital Photography (it reached #40 on the Amazon Bestsellers list--among all books) and The Kodak Most Basic Book of Digital Photography. I am also the author The Joy of Photography (3rd ed) that sold over a million copies.

My new book Exposure Photo Workshop was published in March 2008 by Wiley Publishing. This book is a comprehensive guide to exposure and covers everything related to creating good exposures, including: the basic theory of exposure, how light meters and exposure systems work, how to handle difficult exposure situations (things like bad weather, high contrast, flash exposure, etc.) and when to use various exposure modes. There is an extensive section on night photography. But most importantly, the book deals with the emotional climate that you can create in your images by understanding how changes in exposure can radically change the mood of a photograph. The book is aimed at both beginning and advanced photographers.

In addition to information about my books, on this site you will find digital photography tutorials, galleries of my photos and profiles of some interesting photographers that I have interviewed. There is also an extensive digital camera buying guide for both consumer and professional digital cameras.

If you're a music fan, I also do a radio show on WPKN 89.5 FM in Bridgeport, Connecticut and you can read more about my programs and view recent playlists.

From an Oratory
by Daniel Webster

Men hang out their signs indicative of their respective trades.
Shoemakers hang out a gigantic shoe; jewelers, a monster watch; even a dentist hangs out a gold tooth; but up in the Franconia Mountains God Almighty has hung out a sign to show that in New England He makes men.
