Apple iPhone includes Digital Camera
Apple iPhone
It would be hard to talk about cell phone cameras these days and not mention the innovative Apple iPhone. I can't think of a piece of technology in the past 10 years that has created more of a stir that this expensive little cell phone. Of course, to call it just a "cell phone" is like calling your MacBook a calculator: sure, the iPhone can make phone calls, but it is also, essentially a teensy laptop computer. In fact, you can perform a whopping 16 different major functions from the touch-screen keyboard, including: making a call, accessing email, browse the web using Safari (I wish it was Firefox) and even use Widgets that will take you right to the internet (via Wifi and Edge). You can also access Google Maps which is a brilliant idea since most of us have come to rely on Google mapping to get ourselves around. And, of course, there is also a 2.0 megapixel digital camera. Actually, I was hoping that Apple would be a little bolder and put in an 8 or 10 megapixel camera just to blow photographers away--and I'm sure the pixel count will grow in the next year or so. A 2.0 mp camera is fine for anything you'd want to email from the phone though...and I'll report more about the camera in the days to come.

Some Really Cool iPhone Stories & Links

While poking around the web soon after the iPhone was released I began finding some fun & interesting stories about the iPhone camera and so as I come across them, I'll link to them here:

Here's a great story that I found on MacRumors.com about what *might* be the first Apple iPhone photos taken (by non-Apple employees, at least).

And from Gizmodo.com (a very fun site) here is a really interesting story about the first "aerial" photos ever shot with an iPhone.

And from Flickr member Perfectlymadebirds, here's a photo of a VW Bus and a iPhone user's first photo as well as his comments on the iPhone (he loves it).
