I am a photographer and writer and the author of numerous books on photography including: The New Joy of Digital Photography (Lark Photo Books, 2011), Jeff Wignall's Digital Photography Crash Course (Lark Photo Books, 2010), Exposure Photo Workshop (Wiley, 2008), Winning Digital Photo Contests (Lark Photo Books, 2009) and Focus on Digital Photography Basics (Lark Photo Books, 2010).
I also write and produce a blog of (almost) daily digital photo tips: Occasional Photo Tip of the Day. And I am a regular contributor to the Black Star Rising
blog that is published by the legendary photojournalism agency, Black
Star. I produce web content for a number of major clients, including
Pixiq, Fodor's Travel Publications and Popular Photography magazine.
My specialty in photography is travel photography for both editorial and advertising clients. I've been writing about photography for more than 30 years and I'm a former "Camera" columnist for the Sunday New York Times and I'm the former Technical and New Products Editor for Photo District News.
I currently write a monthly column called "Traveling Photographer" for Popular Photography magazine, am a frequent contributor to a number of photo magazines including: American Photo, Outdoor Photographer, PC Photo Digital, Digitalis Foto (Budapest, Hungary), and BottomLine/Tomorrow. My photos appear regularly in books, magazines and advertisements and on CD covers.
I also do a regular broadcast FM radio show on WPKN 89.5 FM in Bridgeport, Connecticut. I'm on the first Monday of each month as half of the Beppo & Gito Mongul comedy team (you can listen live at www.wpkn.org). Ken Brown and I have been co-hosting the Beppo & Gito Mongul Show on WPKN for more than 18 years. We are available to do your pets' birthday parties.
In addition, I am a commercial writer and ad copywriter and do
regular advertising and advertorial work for several major clients in
the photo industry, including: Sony, Canon, Nikon, Olympus and Mamiya cameras.
Thousands of my photos have been published in books, magazines, calendars, posters, greeting cards and major websites.
